Behind The Smile

There’s more to Thailand than the smile

Delivery Boys

Published on August 28, 2008 by admin

In Bangkok you can order almost anything for home delivery. Even McDonals has 24 hour service if you feel the need for a Big Mac at 3 Am in the morning. Some of them are rather cute, but I digress.

In Spain

Published on August 25, 2008 by admin

When you want to go to the Grand Palace in Bangkok, you have to dress modestly. The same applies to churches in Europe. Not that I personally care but I thought it was fun to see one of the Thai princesses in a church in Spain, dressed in a flimsy blue something with bare arms and shoulders. It looked rather weird.

The king of Thailand has 35 billion US dollar, making him the richest monarch in the world. That’s a lot of money to spread around. Like sufficiency money.

Learn Thai

Published on August 18, 2008 by admin

Podcasts were popular a few years ago, but I thought they had all but disappeared. However, here is a company that offers a Thai language course that you can take along on your music player. For what it’s worth, here is yesterday’s revealing insight on the site: Did you know that the Thai language is full of words to describe feelings? Who would have guessed. Basically it looks like a Wordpress blog they want you to pay for.

Cars And Pedestians

toiletpaper

Why do pedestrians in Thailand stop for cars on a pedestrian crossing? In the rest of the world it is the other way around. Not so in Thailand. There are more things. Why do Thais use toiletpaper to wipe their mouth, but Kleenex tissues in the toilet?

The Queen’s Birthday

Published on August 11, 2008 by admin

The queen held forth about Thai silk in her annual birthday speech yesterday. I watched it a bit, then watched something else. An hour later I switched back and it was still the same subject. The queen’s birthday is called mother’s day in Thailand. Yes, she is your mother too! So unlike the famous queensday in the Amsterdam, where a different type of queen appropriated the day and fun is had by all. In Bangkok it is a rather funereal affair. Lots of syrupy paeans and stuff like that.

US and Thailand

Published on August 7, 2008 by admin

Bush came to visit Thailand and the Nation sent their editor Mr Yoon to interview Bush. Yoon must have been so in awe he asks the president inane questions as if he were writing for a high school newsletter. Fonzi comes up with a long list of much better questions, such as:

1. I would have asked him what he thought about the coup. (Why did the US give nod and wink support for the coup?)

2. I would have asked him about his relationship with Thaksin. (They were supposed to be close personal friends at one time.)

3. I would have asked him about the CIA rendition flights and if the US ever had secret prisons in Thailand.

4. I would have asked what type of military

Cats And Dogs

Published on August 4, 2008 by admin

Apparently people who like to eat dogs, and there are a few need the dog to suffer as much as possible when it gets cooked. So they kill it in some tormented way. And for cats its even worse. They get cooked like lobsters. Alive. That is to increase the amount of adrenaline in the meat, which is supposed to be beneficial for something or other. Quite gruesome. It’s fine with me if someone wants to eat a dog or a cat, but when not kill it as painlessly as possible? Well, I’ll stick to sucking gay Asian cocks. So much sweeter.

Superstition

Published on August 1, 2008 by admin

There’s an article about the Preah Vihar temple and a ceremony that took place there in today’s Bangkok Post. The superstition involved in it just makes your pants drop:

The Cambodian ritual at the Preah Vihear temple raised fears among many Thai people, who say it could bring bad luck to Thailand.

The anti-government People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) leaders last night led thousands of their supporters in a rival ritual to protect the country and block any ill-effects from the Cambodian one. Many Thais believe some Cambodians have expertise in black magic.

Thai people in Si Sa Ket and nearby provinces who heard about the Cambodian ritual at the Preah Vihear temple persuaded others to wear yellow, a colour they say will help the country stave off the effects of the ceremony.

One resident said that it was also a full moon last night and Cambodian people believe it was a sacred day – a good day for holding a ritual

Well, that makes my belief that Thai boy sperm is rejuvenating rather benign, does it not?
